Summer School on Geography Education Research for Early Career Researchers
When researching geography education, researchers face a variety of challenges. Some are general, and some are subject (geography) specific. One of these challenges is that problems investigated by the researcher are multidisciplinary. This is especially challenging for early career researchers (ECR). They have to invest more time and resources to master the relevant theories and methodologies while engaging with the broader research literature. However, there are not only challenges related to theories and methods, but also with networking in the community, publishing the research, funding etc.
The Summer school addresses these challenges by developing ECRs‘ research skills (including literature search, methodology selection and execution, data analysis, writing skills etc.) in the workshops, debating ECRs’ research projects and related issues with experienced researchers, and networking of the ECR community during social and sport activities.
The event will take place in Prague (campus of the Faculty of Science, Charles University – 2 days) combined with 3-day stay in the protected area of Kokořínsko, a beautiful region not far from Prague where you will find bizarre sandstone rocks, crystal-clear lakes, deep forests and one of the most romantic of all Czech castles. The venue offers us to retreat from the bustle of the modern world and find refuge somewhere where time passes pleasantly slow. Just about 40 km far from Prague.
